Latent, Super 8mm/16mm, silent, 3m, 2002

I shot specific words onto 13 rolls of Super 8mm film, rewound the film and mailed them to 13 filmmakers, asking them to go out and shoot stuff on them. They did not know that I’d left a latent image in the emulsion of their films. After processing, the two movies are chemically bound. Their images were betrothed to my texts, which impregnated them: a resonant cipher.

Burlyboys is four "Latent" Super 8mm films shot by the following friends of mine in Vermont: Dan Kozmiski, Peter Pritchard, Jake Savio and Frank Zammiello.
