A short loop of fire burning and a 200’ sound loop of a single cricket’s chirp are powered by the same projector motor. A series of sound heads and amplifiers transform the chirp into a field of crickets in concert. The flicker of the fire combined with its central location in the history of storytelling make it a protocinema.
