Graven (excerpt), 35mm multiformat, sound, 12min

A painter who tries to paint God and opens his closed-eye.

This film juxtaposes various characteristics from the cinema in order to propose a filmic potential. These characteristics include color, grain, frame rate, sound, editing strategies and even various aspect ratios. These elements are released from their substrates into an expressive and narrative foreground in order to accumulate as active components in the meaning constructed within a film. Graven seeks a new alignment between the audience and the projected experience by way of multi-format filmmaking.
