Panamainting, 16mm & ink on canvas, with Leslie Baker, 2002

Leslie Baker, the illustrator, and I set up our tools in her studio. We faced off. She painted a portrait of me filming a portrait of her. When the film came back we were dissatisfied with the results. She wanted to alter the painting to address how the camera had seen the passage of time and I wanted to project film into her act of drawing. So we did just that. The resulting film, as seen here, was then projected onto the painting in the gallery where it was shown.
