Time, Light & Space, ongoing series of color and b/w photos, 2004-
This project hinges on the
latent image potential inherent to photochemical image making. To explore
the collision of randomly matched texts and images, I invited other photographers
to participate in an emulsion-based exquisite corpse. I shot a few rolls
of film with just text; white words on a black background. Rewinding the
rolls allowed the other photographers the ability to make multiple exposures
with them. Where the words were white, the images were burned out, but
all of what had been black, was filled up with whatever image happened
to fall on the text.
These three images are examples
of the extraordinary parallels that surfaced when we processed the photo-performance.
similar to the film Latent.
